We sent all the performers of the 2016 Classic City Fringe Festival the same 7 Questions. We wanted a deeper look into who they are, their goals, what inspires them, and what all lead them to performing at this years festival. Here’s what Monsoon had to say:
7 Questions: Monsoon
Q: Why do you identify as a “fringe” artist?
A: We identify as fringe, especially on Halloween, due to the massive amounts of blood that will be thrown around during the show, and the wild satanic skit that will be put on. We like to be as visual and exciting as we can during the set, and halloween is the perfect excuse to get a little more demented.
Q: What big goal do you hope to accomplish in the next 5 years?
A: We hope to be the band that people talk about 5 years from now as the wildest set they’ve ever seen. We want people to have a good night to remember and to have fun. We want to tour and play fringe shows all over the USA and hopefully reach out into other countries!
Q: How do events like the Fringe Festival help you as a fringe artist/performer?
A: Fringe Fest lets us be creative and take our ideas to the next level without having to hold back.
Q: How is an event like the Fringe Festival good for the community?
A: Fringe Festival give one the opportunity to see a show without limits and to see a band at their full creative potential.
Q: What Inspires you?
A: Seeing shows that are off the wall give us energy and inspiration to put on shows like that ourselves.
Q: What lead you to choose to perform the piece you will be doing?
A: I thought of my idea while working at the daycare. It was Halloween time and I wanted to give something just a little extra than we normally would do.
Q: What was your first experience being a performer?
A: I first performed when I was 15 years old. It’s been a long ride, but I’ve only gathered more insight and knowledge in the show business since then.
